Dear Son, your Aunt’s first child, named after her Dad (your grandfather whom you never met) lived 10 days. That hardly seems fair. My sister now has four grandchildren. The Lord works in mysterious ways. Bank on it.

Dear Son, life is riddled with small difficulties as well as unimaginable hardships. Your blessed crib was given to a man who lost his grandmother, mother and both his legs when he was nine. As you know, I hope to never ever complain of sore feet again.

Life. We love being alive.
We dread dying.
In between, we have to carve out our life. A life that hopefully allows us to not only survive, but also to thrive somewhat.
To have mostly good days, a fair number of “bad” days, and occasionally a few great days.
Bad, good, great. We will each define these differently, no doubt. That’s okay. It’s all relative anyway.
So what’s the point?
The point is, what will today be?
