Making decisions about things i never saw coming

Passport info
New Passport arrived yesterday, in half the time they promised.

Making decisions about things i never saw coming is interesting because i wrestle with accepting my ignorance, and rejoice with my discoveries (and growth).

It’s quite possible this year will see me pay out wages equal to or greater than my entire income last year.

Never saw it coming.

And now?

Now i can’t imagine making a difference without it.

PS. Just sent an email to someone i’m working with stating that it’s absurd to hire an amazing person and then tell them what to do. She is grateful.

On April Fool’s Day 2009, jeff noel began writing five daily, differently-themed blogs (on five different sites). It was to be a 100-day self-imposed “writer’s bootcamp”, in preparation for writing his first book. He hasn’t missed a single day since.

Luck favors the prepared

Luck favors the prepared.

With each passing day, i see more clearly what the next steps should be.

Wasn’t prepared for Dawn to say yes to being my project manager two weeks ago.

This caught me off guard.

Wasn’t blind-sided, but also didn’t see it coming.

Calling GoDaddy today.

Why?

To create a fail safe way to build the new website separately from all my other digital assets.

The prevailing options have been at both ends of the spectrum

The prevailing options have been at both ends of the spectrum – retire early or later. Here are a few:

  • Retire June 9, day after turning 55
  • Retire September 28, day after the official 30-year anniversary.
  • Retire December 31, end of the year.
  • Retire the same day Bob Iger retires (which was originally set for 2015, but he’s extended his contract to 2016) (and he’s since extended it to 2018).
  • Keep working indefinitely and retire in 2015, 2016, or even later.

These are all options that have never been experienced before, so there is no obvious, prevailing wisdom.

(photo: Screen shot from Facebook… intense, but not too graphic message that texting can cause death to innocent people… a grim reminder that material stuff doesn’t matter)

Just two days after the Summer solstice, a significant realization occurred.

Every October 1, moving forward, life will continue to get better.

For each of us.

If we are organized enough to lighten our burdens.

Purge… slowly and steadily.

Stuff doesn’t matter.
