Too good, at home

airline web page
Easy-peasy: In one week we return from Glacier. Then a three-day break at home. Then a three-day out-of-state client engagement. Guess what’s after that? Our son is flying back from Australia to attend his College graduation. We wouldn’t miss it. And after we spend a week together in Baltimore, i’m off to Nova Scotia.

Magic happens with conviction and commitment. But don’t push it on others.

Politics and religion remind me of zealots.

The zealots make me nauseous.

Conversely, my zeal inspires me.

Why?

Because it’s self-imposed.

No one but me is looking at my deficiencies and my opportunities.

As it should be.

Religious and political zealots, to me, forget that their right to be a zealot does not make them a deity.

Note: Talking lofty stuff is scary. Exciting too. And if i really want to pursue lofty stuff, i need a coach that pushes me hard. Writing lofty stuff is the echo of my own voice talking to me as my coach.

It all started with a retina tear

Dr Gokul Kumar
Everything starts somewhere.

I hope we never lose sight that everything started with a Mouse.

So ironic that right after returning from a month-long 2023 Summer visit i lost left-eye eye sight.

And yesterday, right after getting an excellent eye exam, we are days away from returning to Glacier.

How cool is that?

No one likes it

Tv Weather forecast
It’s that time of year in Orlando when we turn on the AC and never turn it off until October. It’s mid-April today, Sunday. Yes, it’s 84 right now.
Pool app
Guessing the air temp is close (because the pool pump house and the pool pump motor may inflate the ‘outdoor temp’). Assuming the water temp is accurate.

No one likes a know-it-all, unless it’s their surgeon or professor.

Sometimes i wish i had the capacity to slay my insatiable desire to learn and apply wisdom, and then publish it.

It’s a blessing and curse (but not really a curse).

Note: And when i say ‘sometimes‘ i really mean always.

Live a little, please

While on a work trip, Cheryl hosted a friend at our home. We met her at our son’s college.

Paige is an excellent cook and an extraordinary human.

i got to spend 36 hours under the same roof with Paige.

Could have easily enjoyed her company for more days. Perhaps, however, it’s meant to be because her husband should be here too.

Fingers crossed for next time.

Explain succinctly

Photo of a painting with two nurses sitting bedside
Looks to me like a Nurse and a nursing student are gazing on a painting of Florence Nightengale.
3-second video: Almost home. Little did anyone know that after landing, we’d wait an additional 40 minutes for an open gate to park the plane.

i was a high achiever long before Disney. It’s a blessing and a curse.

  1. What’s frustrated you most about onboarding?
  2. What coaching can you share for how others can best earn your respect and trust.
  3. What makes work fun for you?
  4. What makes working with you fun?
  5. What is important for me to know about you that i haven’t asked?
  6. Bonus: What do you believe is the meaning of life?
  7. Bonus: What’s your superpower?
  8. Bonus: What’s your achilles heel?
  9. Bonus: What’s your favorite place on Earth?

Note: This post’s title (Explain succinctly) is inspired by today’s one-week post cataract surgery followup exam. Grateful Dr Callaway is blessing me with a return to ‘50% of previous efforts’ for pre-cataract surgery physical routines. But it took a few minutes to get to the ‘Bottomline’ restriction.

In hindsight, a one sentence hypothesis (with any medical provider) would be a potential breakthrough to get to the answer efficiently.

Maybe tomorrow’s posts can unpack that and even craft the hypothesis.
