Have your cake

Grammy never moved out of the house Cheryl was born and raised in. Cheryl’s mom was also born and raised in the same house. By the way, Grammy opened a grocery store in 1927, and ran the one-room store in the front of their “Row Home”. She did this for decades. When i first visited in 1979, i only ever knew it as the Living Room.

A fantastic cake.

Can you have your cake and eat it too?

Over a lifetime, have heard variations of the phrase, “You can’t have your cake and eat it too.” But have never heard it as a question, until just now when i made it up for this post.

Birdseed not rice

leaving church after wedding
Early 80’s, we used birdseed instead of rice. Perhaps it was hype by the birdseed companies. No matter, we did what we thought was a better choice. Cheryl’s Grammy was a founding member of St Michael’s Byzantine Catholic Church.

Looking back, the Church was so “small-time wonderful”.
