Early and late

family by mountain trail sign
Trail head photos are generally skipped because of, well, many reasons. i generally never skip a trail head photo opp.
9-second video: Sunset hike/dinner. Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, etc. Livin’ the dream.

Love crowds, love waiting, and or jockeying?

Then don’t arrive early to beat the crowd.

Don’t arrive later, after the rush either.

Why?

Because if you arrive early or late, you can literally own the place.

Ownership comes with the discomfort of following a path less traveled.

Scary or exhilarating?

Regret only sucks

Homeowner in yard
Remember this pile? Finished the pile yesterday.
Dumptruck
One truck load of topsoil between the boards, 18 yards worth.
Two people on a dirt pile
Just over a week to make it disappear.

Regret only sucks if it comes true.

dad

Would have regretted not going for it…
In 1983, my goal was to live less than five minutes from Walt Disney World.
Took a decade to do.
Now, we’re retired living less than a mile from WDW.

If not, then what?

July 4th traditional Magic Kingdom fly-by. Thought it was at 10 AM sharp.
Come on her driveway from the roof
Before coming down from roof, took a photo to capture the driveway progress.

If not now, when?

If not ever, why?

Bonus note: If you cannot answer the first question, you won’t be able to answer the second. You are burying yourself. Use the frustrating ‘desperation’ as your catalyst to a midlife celebration.

Bonus note #2: Congrats to you for already knowing ‘true North’ and letting your conscious be your guide.

Hustle storm?

Mountains
Same lake, different angle as we make our way up the trail to the upper lake.
mountains and lake
Different lake, but same mountain location as in all of today’s photos.

Context is like oxygen to me.

dad

Nothing makes sense to me, or means anything to me without context.

This is reason social media is toxic to me.

LinkedIn and Twitter are two places i post regularly. However, the posts are business and life insights, not a pitch or a life movie A-Reel.

Wrote this comment (rarely comment, like almost never) yesterday. Why? Again, to capture a newly-found insight.

My comment…

Hustle-porn
Finally a term to define LinkedIn’s unintentional DNA

It’s Sunday morning.

Two weeks away from wheels up to Glacier.

High-achievers anonymous

Apple Watch fitness app screenshot
Early and easy 5 miles in the yard before 11am. This ain’t unusual. What the heck is unusual anyway? Perhaps it’s more like, “this ain’t uncommon” (for us). Today is a non-walk/activity day. A rest day if you will.

You may regret going after impossible goals. You may not. But i guarantee you will 100% regret wondering, “what if?”

dad

High-achievers anonymous sounds helpful.

But where do you sign up?

Who runs it?

Who ensures it’s integrity?

What is the ticket to entry?

How long do you stay?
