The other referral.
Woman next to green car
We had a few days between our WSU Residence Hall apartment contract ending and our next accommodations. We lived out of the car trunk and slept in our two-person tent at a little used County Park, not far from WSU.

Find a million ways to sustain and improve your childlike dreams, wishes, and magic.

Like i say in my first book, (paraphrasing) “Remember your childhood dreams? Maybe you should dust one of them off and go for it.”

Finished the day with dinner 200 meters from the South Pacific.

Personal vibrancy demands never getting bored with life’s basics.

dad

Simple…

Never get bored with the basics.

Simple.

Simple doesn’t mean easy, but it does mean simple.

Life’s basics are habitually achieved by changing why, what, and how.

Habitually, meaning a habit that is automatic, repetitious.

The hard part is undoing a habit.

Focusing as much on undoing the present as you focus on creating the future.

Regret sucks.

dad

Regret sucks.

Regret is unavoidable.

Then one day, you reach a fork in life’s road.

One path is ongoing life regret.

One path is over-focusing on intentionally eliminating regret.

Insight: Aim for perfection, settle for excellence. Meaning, while alleviating regret isn’t eliminating regret, alleviating is better than not alleviating regret.

Castaways Beach on the return drive from Noosa.

Rare to be at a South Pacific beach. If we didn’t know where we are, we’d never guess our location.

The ‘we were here’ photo.

Australia has confirmed my love for our home, Glacier, Disney, and Sanibel.

dad

Ps. Sanibel may be moving off my list of favorite places on Earth.

As an historic favorite, totally stays on the list.

As a current favorite, not any more.

Our favorite Sanibel place got destroyed by Hurricane Ian, September 28, 2022.

There’s no other place on Sanibel that will substitute.

Why?

It would be like moving to a different house in Orlando and still calling our new back porch and new front porch my two favorite places on Earth.

Our current home has been hand-crafted with Mother Nature over three decades.

Mitchell’s Sand Castles has ‘been in our Family’ since 1989.

Now that it’s gone, finding another place to be ‘our place on Sanibel’ would be like moving to a new home in Orlando.

Both would undoubtedly be nice, and comfortable. but neither new home nor place would have the ‘it-factor’.
