Please do not settle

M-I-C-K-E-Y.

Notes to self…Middle of night awoke with this self-conversation…

  1. Does this sound unreasonable?
  2. What are you prepared to do to achieve it?

Unpacked…(remember, it was 2am)…

  1. Wouldn’t it be great to live with mental vibrancy, physical vibrancy, spiritual vibrancy, career vibrancy, and home life vibrancy?
  2. Now, what’s your answer?

Assuming your answer is yes, what are you prepared to do to achieve it? Because, you do believe you deserve it, and that it would be wonderful to live that way,

Then the only question, really, is, what are you willing to do next? And for how long?

Improvement Coaching

Photo of a bicyclist's shadow at Walt Disney World entrance
During the height (April-May) of 2020’s Covid-19 stay at home order, Florida allowed outside exercise. Bicycling at WDW was perfect, logging 30 miles per day. Creative use of a deserted space.

Improvement coaching to drive creativity and innovation:

  • Create a cultural environment that instinctively knows how to proactively spot improvement opportunities and quickly brainstorm multiple ideas.
  • Create cultural norms for selecting from a long list of inside-the-box ideas that are best aligned with Company reputation.
  • Establish Company mantra for low-cost-to-no-cost solutions to guide quick, nimble, effective implementation.
  • Every leader embraces creating an environment where great ideas have no choice but to flourish and consistently encourages and recognizes smart, proactive risk taking.

Compound interest Magic

handwritten note to self
Handwritten note to self during Covid-19’s early days, but referencing life in our 20’s, 30’s, 40’s, and 50’s: “as i made changes in life…unexpected challenges, growing pains i didn’t expect, and how did i embrace them?”

Small amounts of money invested regularly between 16 -40 years old, without deliberation, is my path to wealth. Didn’t start until almost 30. Magic happens when value doubles every seven years at 10% annual return.

Our secret was picking a blue-chip stock, Disney, and having small weekly automatic payroll deductions buy our stock. Set it and forget it. Stock outperforms all others, over time. We are in a good financial position, even with a late start at age 30.

Ask yourself, “Is my leader on fire with our organization’s purpose? And does my leader set me on fire about it too?”

dad

Lead yourself. Do not count on others to set you on fire with a compelling and noble purpose.
