Privilege of a lifetime at home

What’s my privilege of a lifetime at home?

To finally realize life is more vibrant when my priorities are prioritized.

One more time, please

Dennis, far right, laughs at everything.

We’ve been together a decade. We met at Lee Cockerell’s home two weeks before i officially retired on Halloween 2014. Mark and i began collaborating in early 2015.

There’s a last time for everything.

Sometimes we welcome the last time.

Sometimes we mourn the last time.

And sometimes, we forget to savor each time, never thinking that this might be the last time.

Our son’s Christmas Eve and Christmas Day shifts started at 5:00 AM. Waiting for him to return home before our ‘festivities’ allowed Santa’s helpers extra prep time.

That was a blessing.

Today was the most prepared i’ve ever been for Christmas.

Today was the most joy i’ve ever experienced for Christmas.

Captiva Day 4, home

Google Maps in Florida
There’s a minimum of four hours due to traffic and a rest stop.
business history story mounted on a wall
We loved the original. A short drive from Mitchell’s Sandcastles, all those years. The new location and new building is “Island Magic”.
7-second video: As fresh as it gets. Cheryl is around the corner viewing the OEC ‘history wall’.

We got to talk with one of the owners who we met on our first visit years ago. Thanked her for the miracle of her and her family rebuilding not once, but twice, in only two years.

Enjoyed a hearty breakfast and by 9:30 AM, we hit the road for home.

Ps. Hope to be back again soon.

Captiva Day 3, home

Honeymoon couple at restaurant
Dinner and a sunset.
Honeymoon couple at the beach
The sunset happened before our salads arrived. It’s a tiny sun in this picture but it’s a big moment to not miss it.
Sunset
Same sun as in the previous picture.
16-second video: Always a blessing to watch the sun disappear from our view as it begins to appear in someone else’s.

Knowing we drive home tomorrow is a cool feeling.

Why?

Because our goal for this trip was simple.

Reconnaissance.
