If Disney ran your business

Spoon doorknob on restaurant front door
A great idea for a restaurant door knob is only the beginning, not the end. Photo from two nights ago in Valparaiso, on Main Street.

Being intentional means not only paying attention to details of your business, but it also meansĀ over managing those details. Like the door knob above.

Being intentional at everything, especially things your competition under manages or ignores completely.

The reason most under manage or ignore things is because they think the customer (or employee) won’t notice. Or, if the customer (or employee) does notice, they won’t care.

What are the limits to our learning?

Apple Special Event 2015
iPhone screen shot of Apple Special Event two days ago.

Where do you learn?

Is it structured?

Does it cost money?

Watching the Apple special event two days ago i watched with two key focuses:

  1. The way Apple arranged it’s keynote presentation.

What are you convinced is worth defending?

Being decently organized?

How organized is enough?

Enough to survive day to day?

Enough to be able to thrive daily?

For 60 consecutive days i’ve taken on a new challenge of not having any emails in the inbox, sent, and trash folders when i go to bed.

Everything is easy

Apple iPhone 6 screen shot
The right business model can accommodate a pocket sized business model.

Everything is easy when you know how to do it.

Do you find being organized difficult?

Here’s what i’ve come to accept about my organizational shortcomings:

  • Nothing will change if i don’t want the change bad enough
  • Failure used to stop me from continuing the journey
  • Continuing the journey (trying again and again) leads to breakthroughs
  • It’s easy to make excuses
  • It’s even easier to get used to being disorganized

i accept the truth that our degree of personal organization is the degree to which all other things in our life prosper or flounder.

Going digital, also known as going paperless, is a huge adjustment for paper dependent people.

Who would you rather believe?

Blog comment
Screen shot from an entrepreneur’s weekly email blast; either Chris Brogan or Rob Hatch.

Who would you rather believe?:

  1. Someone validating your (and society’s) deeply-held belief that balance is a myth?
  2. Someone contradicting your (and society’s) deeply held belief that balance is a myth?

Seems like a stupid question until you consider who’s asking it…me.
