Do you treat your boss like a customer?

Disney Customer Service Keynote Speakers
Love this place and all that it has taught me and countless other Cast Members.

In your day-to-day work habits, do you have enough bandwidth to treat your boss like a VIP customer?

If you do, you have found the key to standing out at work.

Congratulations.

Would the decade old film contain wonderful photos?

Neighborhood junk yard
Neighborhood. Big lots. Cars. Back yard. Storage. Zoom in and count the ones not covered by trees. Our lot corners are 15 feet apart.

The film was probably a decade old. Finally took it to Walgreens.

Picked it up yesterday.

Shut out.

Nothing.

Well, there was one blurry, unrecognizable photo.

Could have been a delightful surprise.

It still turned out to be a small adventure down a path.

And then there was the Google map search for the midway point between my home and Taz’s.

The age of the ariel photo surprised me. And because of that surprise, i looked closer – a neighbor has quite the collection of vehicles.

Be decently organized. A good mantra to live by.

The iPhone was worthless

iPhone home screen
My iPhone was completely worthless for over an hour.  i knew the solution had to be easy.

On the phone for 45 minutes with Apple Care once i got to the gym yesterday.

The Apple product specialist was nice but ultimately proposed me waiting until i biked home, plugged my iPhone X into the Mac and restored the factory settings from an iTunes backup.

i politely asked for a senior advisor.

Lateasha had me press the right side button (there is no home button on the X) three times, uncheck VoiceOver, and wal-la, done.

i enjoyed remembering how uncomfortable being unprepared is

Disney Speakers
Five days ago. The Glacier trip backed up to the business trip.

Two days ago – the night before the trip – it hit me that i was unprepared with classroom materials.

It’s been so long since this has happened.

Oddly, i enjoyed remembering how uncomfortable being unprepared is.

Also relished the unique opportunity to realize what an extraordinary payoff you get from being ready in advance.

While i wasn’t in a panic, i did have to overreact to compensate.

In the big picture, it was a minor inconvenience.

But here’s the key learning, what if i was habitually unprepared in advance and one thing snowballed into another?

So yeah.

i’ve come a long way from my old ways.

Dream big, plan early

Logan Pass at Dusk
Sometimes the opposite of arriving early – staying late – provides margin. After the parking lot empties, Nature awakens.

There is something about breathing room that literally defies logic.

Creating space on a countertop.

Arriving earlier than necessary.

Thriving on less.

Simplicity.
