Organize to maximize

Chapin Noel's art drawing
A 14-year old drew this two weeks ago. Where do we store a lifetime of growing up? What to keep, what to discard?

Organize to maximize.

There’s a fine line between teaching and annoying. Between humility and arrogance.

One wrong move and the whole thing gets misinterpreted.

This scares the crap out of people, so most of us settle for living with the regret of playing it safe.

Playing it safe consists of a lifetime of small decisions that make up a greater tapestry called “my life”.

The place where we dwell. Where all our important stuff is.

It’s about being decently organized and making good decisions.

Based on the logical assumption you are the CEO of You, Inc.

The little things are time consuming

Florida Black Eyed Susans
Yesterday at Disney’s Sun Trust Office Building.

Slow and steady wins the race.

The little things, the small steps, these take time and hardly seem like progress.

Time enough to get a haircut and hand pick – plus personally deliver – flowers to Cheryl’s office in Downtown Walt Disney World.

There was also time for some gardening too – a passion that has taken a back seat to parenting for nearly 15 years.

Since retiring from Disney, my new boss has been amazing.

Drive to airport at 5:15am, Derby party by 5:15pm

He (14) was decently organized and began packing two days prior to yesterday’s 5:15am departure from home. So at 4:30am it was easy to jump in the shower and then grab his roller bag and small (and light) backpack.

Visually seeing what you need is easier with a simple process.

Photo below is at 6:15am. All accounted for and ready to check luggage and head for breakfast. Only one student is missing – unable to attend. Up next? Eight days in California.

Later in the day, after a nap, we transitioned to a 23-year neighborhood tradition at Mikki and Joel’s amazingly casual, elegantly refreshing Florida home.

Almost race time.

It was the final neighborhood Derby party. Their home is for sale and they’re moving to the beach.
