The tickets were comped, the meal was on us

Small details many miss because the line moves too fast.

Magic after dark.

Worked for six weeks in the Emporium in January 1985. Nothing had a price tag on it.

Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party
Heading home at 8:10pm…school night.

Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party
For posterity.

The four Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas party tickets came as a (complimentary) recognition program from a lifetime at Disney.

We paid for our meal at Diamond Horseshoe Review.

Home by 9pm.

Today is a school and work day.

First Principles Thinking
First Principles Thinking screen shot. “Read ’em and weep”. Or, read ’em and rejoice.

Shed.

You don’t have to be a big-city genius to know that life comes down to a few basics.

Everything we have, do, yearn for, and are afraid to let go of holds us back from feeling completely alive.

Sure, life is hard.

Why make it harder?

Shed.

Great day in Philadelphia

Daisies
A lovely and timely sign.

Daisies
Simple. Profound. Symbiotic.

Man carrying wife's purse
i wondered out loud if that could be us some day. Cheryl noticed the red purse. i had not noticed.

Philadelphia homeless man
Even a homeless person wants to market their sign for maximum results. No?

The homeless man in center of photo, for context as we walked back to our hotel.

Philadelphia Macys Organ
After dinner, a trip to see the world’s largest working instrument.

Talent, from countless hours of practice, is the only way to know what all this means.

Philadelphia Macys
A 180-degree turn around, down onto the Macys floor. It used to be the John Wanamaker Building.

Philadelphia Macys
Like i was saying.

It was a great day in Philadelphia.

i’m going to Walt Disney World

i’m going to Walt Disney World.

Leaving my childhood home in an hour, bound for Harrisburg Airport, and a non-stop flight to Walt Disney World.

Business meetings concluded, it’s time to sleep in my own bed again.

No place like home.

On April Fool’s Day 2009, jeff noel began writing five daily, differently-themed blogs (on five different sites). It was to be a 100-day self-imposed “writer’s bootcamp”, in preparation for writing his first book. He hasn’t missed a single day since.

Mistakes layer my foundation

Southwest Airlines aisle seat
Client texted to ask if i got a good seat for the flight home. i responded with this photo.

Writing about my high personal expectations and the ability to consistently deliver on those is not boastful, although it feels that way.

What’s critical to remember is that the way i got so good at what i do is because i’ve made more mistakes than anyone else.

As sales pitches go, i’d say yesterday’s (first one ever) was packed with more “i’ll never do that again” than it was with “that worked brilliantly”.
