You have no idea

Walking back from dermatologist yesterday around noon.

The pinkish spot (due to ‘freezing’ the skin spot) in the crow’s foot was the reason for the dermatology visit.

Wisdom is lost on youth.

dad

Wisdom is lost on youth with unprotected sun exposure. Invincible. Who needs sunblock? Not me.

Wisdom is again lost, but this time on aging adults.

Older adults who aren’t proactive in mitigating probable consequences from youthful habits.

Started going to a dermatologist once per year.

Then we moved it to every six months.

Last year we moved it to every four months.

And just yesterday, an unplanned, highly proactive fourth visit in 2023 to check on a small spot near my right temple. The good news is it’s not a concern (at this stage).

Two choices: Leave it alone. Freeze it off. Guess which i picked.

No brainer.

Fancy photo album

Frameo app screen shot
This is a cool Christmas present.

A picture is worth a thousand words.

Sage saying

These days, we can add that, in the eye of the beholder, a picture can be worth 1,000 words.

There are establishing shots. Mid-range shots. Close ups.

Note to self: Remain presently mindful when uploading pictures into these new photo albums.

Revisiting zero inbox

Ever heard the Popeye’s Chicken jingle? “Love that chicken from Popeyes“. Modify it to, “Love that zero inbox”.

Simplifying complexity is a competitive advantage in any domain.

Simplicity is operational genius.

As CEO of You, Inc, you are running the operation of your life.

Simplify, simplify, simplify.

Then there’s trip insurance

travel insurance website
Travel insurance makes sense under certain circumstances.
email
Been working on resolution since August. This email is from December 5, 2023. My response is below. Sharing it as a way for me to .think .differently

Design your life’s structure and processes with as few moving parts as possible.

dad

Trip insurance only makes sense for us for one ‘hotel’ in Glacier.

Why?

Their cancellation policy, and price.

It’s a no-brainer that trip insurance makes perfect sense.

What follows is the email content i just sent to IMGlobal…

Drumroll please…..

Jessica, thank you for your message. Have to admit, the prospect of “proving my case” is daunting. Paralyzing even. Hence the delay.

Finally, today, i have an idea that seems like a “blinding flash of the obvious” — start with a small first step.

So here goes…

The Trip Insurance purchase date is actually from 2022, not 2023 (as you have documented). How do we reconcile that?

Once that is reconciled, we can take the next small step.

Thanks for your continued support.

Ps. Also including Sapphire, who has been with me on this journey since August.

— End email.–

Note: It’s now 5:00 PM…Today has been a great day. Every day is a great day. Why? Because of attitude. Yes, the sky could be falling (and since eye surgery four months ago, it often feels like it is) but i refuse to let let things i cannot control poison my thinking.

When does it end?

website warning message
You see this when a website’s SSL Certificate is expired. Lane8.org is NOT expired. So why the message? Great question.
website warning message
This message should never happen on my sites. My Hosting Plan is always a five-year renewal. i’m good through 2028. Today is 2023.
website warning message
If it’s good through 12.18.2024, then why on 12.19.2023 is there an error?
website warning message
All 10 of my sites have been “Parked” by GoDaddy. This means no one can read the blogs or visit my Disney Keynote Speaker site. It also means i cannot access my WordPress Administrative Dashboard.
Darn straight it’s taken, until 2028, and then auto renew in perpetuity.
website warning message
See the fine print? Good through 2033. This is not true, but suppose it was…there should be no error messages.
Mountains and lake
This pic is a transition from GoDaddy anxiety to Glacier Grace. Sunset from the Hotel balcony. That’s the Continental Divide’s Eastern profile.

Internet. Can’t live with it. Can’t live without it.

dad

The challenges with GoDaddy the past two months are remarkable.

i’m remarking about the issues to every GoDaddy employee i speak with.

These are not excellence-driven remarks.

These are “WTF” (Wow, That’s Funny”) remarks.

It’s astounding.

Misinformation.

Unwelcome surprises.

Dropped balls.

Broken promises.

Over-selling.

Under-delivering.

And yet.

And yet i’m still a fan.

Why?

(sometimes i wonder why)

Because since 2008, GoDaddy has impressed me in the same league as Disney, Apple, WordPress.
