Thank you WordPress.

WordPress makes it possible for me to be in complete control of my websites, and my writing and publishing.

i began blogging in late 2008, so it’s been eight years with WordPress.

As this goes live on March 24, 2016, i’m one week away from finishing seven consecutive years of writing five daily, differently-themed posts.

In just eight days, on April Fools Day, year eight begins.

How is this even remotely possible?

Afraid of getting started?

Orlando Professional Speakers

(photo: WorldPress powers over 20% of the world’s websites. Why? Because of the power it puts in the user’s hands.)

Note Update from Lisa Melegari, co-organizer for WordPress Orlando Meetup and Word Camp:

We had a 95% attendance rate at WordCamp Orlando 2014 this past weekend – an Orlando best! Thanks to the over 420 attendees, 40 speakers and 30 sponsors, as well as our many wonderful volunteers and organizers who helped make our biggest event of the year a huge success! We’re already looking forward to starting the plans for 2015!

If you’re afraid of getting started, there’s only one universal cure to overcome your fear.

Live like you mean it.

The predictable going-through-the-motions-autopilot

Orlando Leadership Keynote Speakers

(photo: Karim Marucchi’s biggest client is MLC’s former employer, Disney. How cool is that?)

When you go to a conference, how do you organize your time?

See as many sessions as possible?

See as few sessions as possible?

The first choice is a weak, auto-pilot choice.

The second is a well thought out, remarkably intentional choice.

Being organized isn’t just for our stuff.

It’s also for the processes that allow us to make the most of every opportunity, including a two-day conference jam-packed with classroom sessions.

Only attended one.

The opening keynote. Randomly, it happened to be Karim. Wasn’t there to hear him or his message.

Was there to see what tone was going to be set for the 2014 WordPress Word Camp Orlando conference.

Exceed our expectations by delightfully surprising us

David Laietta WordPress Orlando Word Camp 2014 organizer

(photo: David Laietta delivering opening remarks at yesterday’s 2014 Orlando WordPress Word Camp)

Exceed our expectations by delightfully surprising us. It doesn’t take much.

But it must be intentional.

Great speakers are intentional.

The same way great coders are.

What happens when a coder becomes the speaker?

The two are not mutually exclusive.

What a great opportunity for next year.

Orlando canvs meeting space

Orlando canvs meeting space

(photo: This space was once part of Orlando’s biggest night time entertainment district – Church Street Station.)

Your dreams. The ones (or maybe only one) you dream about all the time. The one you are currently dusting off. The one you are actively chasing with all your heart and soul. That one. What’s next?

Organized enough to arrive early to a new type of meeting space in downtown Orlando. It’s called canvs.

Thanks to David Laietta for organizing the Orlando WordPress community around this.

A side benefit of being organized?

Networking with people like James, Necole and Chris.
