Horse barn
The temperature (giant, yellow, round thermometer on left) just below 90 at 3pm…Fall is in the air.

It really helps to like the people you work with. Otherwise, spending the night without a change of clothes and no toiletries would be challenging to bear.

They made it work.

And there were horses.

Note: The Saturday “all-day” school assignment wasn’t supposed to take a second day, so no provisions for spending the night were taken by the other two students.

Be a noticer if you can spare the time

Hula guy
Love how this breaks the stereotype. Surprised i noticed it. It’s a Hula-guy, not a hula-girl.

Disney speakers
Referrals are gold.

Disney Speakers think differently
Here’s to the crazy ones…

Be a noticer if you can spare the time.

While i noticed the hula guy when i parked to pick up our Son after swim practice, i often don’t always notice the other two images that reside next to my desk.

But when i do notice those art pieces, i remember why i retired early from Disney.

PS. Similar, but not the point of this post, i noticed a lot of unhappy leaders at Disney. Many feel underpaid and underappreciated, secretly thinking they are worth much more than they get credit for. My advice? Leave. Start your own thing. See if you were right.

Life would be easier if i didn’t write every morning (reprise)

Hurricane Irma
About 24 hours later, it’s history.

American Flag
From 100-mph gusts to nothing in 24 hours. The flag spent the night in our garage.

Life would be easier if i didn’t write every morning (reprise).

The closer i get to the 60th birthday, the more clearly i see the value in a single day.

i can only imagine what i will write if i ever have some weird comprehension of my last days.

Just when you think you know it all

Hurricane Irma path
At 5PM, Irma’s moving West. That wasn’t supposed to happen.

At 5AM, Irma’s moving even farther West.

Still taking the prescribed pills Dr Weinberger ordered in 1999. This one is called exercise. The other, diet.

Wow, never before in history.

Almost “showtime”, as we say at Disney.

Raleigh is two and he is thanking me for letting him ride out Hurricane Irma.

Just when you think you know it all, you don’t. Not by a long shot.

We went from Hurricane Irma targeting the Keys, to Irma turning around and potentially missing the United States completely, to it moving west again, and right over our home.

The latest has the eye just West of us which is called the “dirty side” – the strongest and most destructive side.

That’s where we line up with the latest update.

Wish we would have done a pinky-swear

Alamo Customer Service
Alamo Customer Service – Called again during Salt Lake City layover. Lakita promised (i insisted she promise) me she’d let the Kalispell Alamo Counter know (sooner rather than later) there are two cans of Bear Spray in the trunk.

Back in Orlando, the photo download routine begins – 1,400 photos from GNP.

Home sweet home. My desk lamp.

Hurricane Irma’s path puts us out of harm’s way.

Wish Lakita and i would have done a pinky-swear. Odds are she never called.

Why do i say that?

Go look in your email inbox and tell me how many emails are there.

Most people are overwhelmed by the flow of incoming work.

How do i know?

i’m just like everyone else.

But a few years ago, i transformed my personal communication habits.

Every message i receive gets a response within 24 hours, usually same day, and often within hours.

In the old days, i’d procrastinate and then completely forget.
