Presidential Suite (no one knows nor cares)

Mountains through chalet window
In the 40 nights i’ve spent at Granite Park Chalet, never stayed in the Presidential Suite.
Mountains through chalet window
It’s simply called Room 8. i nick-named it the Presidential Suite.
Mountains through chalet window
The only room that has this view.
Mountains through chalet window
There’s a person by the blue shoe, for second floor context.
Mountains through chalet window, with jeff noel sitting on window ledge
Overwhelmed by this opportunity.
Was preparing to do a Grinnell Glacier Overlook (center horizon) sunset hike when i realized the present moment could not be topped.
Mountains through chalet window
Pulled up a chair and simply drank it all in, without lifting a muscle.

Second floor, left window.
mountain sunset
The sun coming through the open room door prompted me to turn around and catch this image.

No one cares what rewards you enjoy or hardships you endure. But you do. In the end, that’s what matters. You have to know and you have to care.

Balance is not possible

Always fascinated to see if anyone else in the world publicly proclaims balance is possible.

Balance is not a myth.

Busy doing nothing

snow storm in the distant mountains on a sunny day
Safely down from the snow and driving to Columbia Falls grocery store. Pulled over to grab this shot of the Continental Divide – and what i walked away from.

Glacier National Park teaches me how much i do not need. Glacier also teaches life’s greatest priorities.

Details strengthen stories

storm clouds on mountains
By 6:00 PM, the East side of the Continental Divide, pictured here, is hinting at what’s brewing.
Mountain scenes from Glacier National Park's Granite Park Chalet
By 7:00 PM, bundled up for a cold night. Expecting freezing temps and snow at dawn, September 6.

Such a powerful story that Christians believe the world’s Savior was born in a barn.

Traveling light is a powerful metaphor

Two miles per hour is a valid estimate for any trail in Glacier. To do it entirely uphill is quite remarkable in your 60’s.
laundry in the mountains
Even in cold weather, hiking up can soak your clothing.
water treatment system
The only treated, drinkable water is 400 meters from the Chalet. The level of gratitude for water is palpable.
freeze dried meal prep
Freeze dried meals only require boiling water, a good stir, and a short wait. Eat them right out of the bag. Prep and clean up couldn’t be easier.
snow forecast
At 6,600′, Granite Park Chalet will get 2-7 inches of snow starting tomorrow morning.

i have never known anyone who runs their life like a successful, growing business. The notion intrigued me to try it and changing my focus in 1999 has enhanced every aspect of daily living.
