Being without Family for the first time in seven years, and being onsite for seven consecutive weeks, the sheer volume – 9,000 photos/videos – is overwhelming.

Which brings us back to where we started.

A past yet recent event is being written about today and won’t post for a couple months.

  1. There’s the past moment which was wonderful as the day unfolded in real time.
  2. There’s today – recalling and writing about the past moment – which is wonderful.
  3. There’s the future, which is expected to be wonderful when this post is read as a public post.

It’s self-reflection, being present, and future hope – all at the same time.

Finally got to meet the wonderful reservations staff.
  • The Front Office team really made me feel welcomed and special. Halloween is 6 weeks away, but candy and cards are available now.
  • Just a rare backstage look at going the extra inch.
  • Housekeeping is almost always overlooked. Not when Jungle Jeff is around.
  • Did my best to remember everyone’s name, no matter where they worked.
  • Tent repair kit was the only place i could find a needle and thread. Haven’t sewn in decades.

OMGosh.
Don’t panic.
Be ready for anything, as you soak in this once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Just for a second she turned in our direction.
Stunning.
Unbelievably calm.
Nature is beautiful. It is also brutal. We only saw the beauty.
Recap of what just happened.
A 10-miler. Back with very little room for challenges. Cut it too close for darkness, in hindsight. We were lucky this time.

Be prepared and expect to see beauty everywhere.

  • Seven hours on the trail.
  • Scouting a foot-soaking seat.
  • Ice-cold glacier-melt. Five seconds was the longest i could submerge feet.
  • Technology.
  • Great feature to keep working while others play.
  • Only 264 photos and videos today…about average.
  • The Motel wifi can’t handle the downloads. i park rental car at RV Park front office, wifi is better there – then walk 1/4 mile back to Motel and back again several hours later to retrieve car/phone.
