Back to sea level. Palm Trees and sunshine. Photo: Cheryl and me at sunrise walking on Sanibel Island years ago.
Definitely grateful for Glacier. Book title “Grateful for Glacier” bottom middle edge. Note the book’s cover featuring Mt Oberlin. The actual Mt Oberlin is just above the book, slightly different angle.
Adventure awaits.
So does the future.

Goodbye Glacier National Park. We love you. Not sure when we’ll return. Hopefully in 2027, even if for only one week. Note: It’s been since 2013 (13 years) since we spent only one week in Glacier.
The Glacier farewells are soft, subtle, mostly private.
Can you imagine saying farewell to your third favorite place in the world?
i can not.
Yet saying farewell is here.
Now.
Ps. There have been signs and energy that triage my ‘grief’.
Grateful for grief, triage, and living life as it comes.

McDonald Creek in late September. Down to a trickle. Shallow, still, clear.
McDonald Creek in late September. The ‘low tide’ reveals how annual Summer snowmelt overpowers and carves the rocks.
Turning 90-degrees left from the above photo angles, Glacier offers a stunningly different view. Little Matterhorn’s jagged peak (from this angle). McDonald Creek rages in June through mid-July.
Like a broken record…
Sometimes i feel like the luckiest human alive.

Mt Oberlin is my favorite peak. Oberlin is top center-left.
Cheryl’s Covid-19 (2020) masterpiece features Mt Oberlin. Photo taken from Granite Park Chalet.
With several days left in Glacier before flying home to Orlando, i do not plan to summit Oberlin.
Why?
Because after 36 summits, there’s nothing to prove nor gain from 37.
Ps. Our speed-limit drive time to Oberlin trailhead is under 25 minutes.

Beach Sunflower from a Sanibel Island trip years ago. Kinda like little ground-level petals of sunshine.
Heavenly rays of sunshine in Glacier National Park’s West side. Looking East toward Mt Oberlin.
When i ask myself, “When was the last time i saw the sunrise?, here’s my consistently hopeful, default answer…
Yesterday morning.
