What would Steve and Walt do?

Speakers Bureau said their client has upped their original bid by 42%.

Rather than jump on it, the first thought was to walk away.

What?

Yeah, walk away. The early years of an organization become the DNA for every year moving forward.

No one walks into an Apple Store expecting to negotiate the price of a Mac or iPhone.

My creative solution is to agree to payment in full at time of signing. The event is eight months away.

On April Fool’s Day 2009, jeff noel began writing five daily, differently-themed blogs (on five different sites). It was to be a 100-day self-imposed “writer’s bootcamp”, in preparation for writing his first book. He hasn’t missed a single day since.

 

All he did was remember my name

 

How Dr. Marcy (Windermere Prep Headmaster) remembered my name is astonishing. At halftime, i told him so.

The way it made me feel was remarkable.

All he did was remember my name among the thousands of people he associates with.

Let’s assume, in Dr. Marcy’s world:

  • 1,000 students in K-12
  • Year after year (after year)
  • Assume two parents (another 2,000 people) (year after year)
  • Assume a multitude of staff, vendors, government officials, and various other associations

The power of individualized attention.

Practiced listening, just didn’t think it would take so long

Who could have ever envisioned the iPhone?

 

Organized enough to be able to invest in a three-hour call yesterday. That’s a long time for a Saturday call. Yes, some things i wanted to get done didn’t happen, but none of them caused anxiety.

Why?

Because i’m almost always in an offensive position, meaning i rarely work in the “oh my gosh, i’m falling behind” space.

Please note, to stay (mostly) in an offensive position is grueling work. Staying in a defensive position is also grueling.

It seems too me if the work is grueling no matter which position, why would i pick anything other than offense?
