Always tending their nests

The City Beautiful, Orlando. Wrote today’s 5 posts from the Delta jet, on an iPhone.

Always tending their nests.

What?

In nature, there’s a constant tending to an animal’s main source of habitat: a nest, hive, burrough, den, perch, etc.

No different for humans.

Not really.

Some humans take it more seriously than others. These humans increase their odds not only of surviving the proverbial gauntlet of life, but thriving in the midst of it.

Taking risks, .thinking .differently, and envisioning a spectacular future are my three get-to-dos in life.

Shedding 147 Gigs of duplicate photos yesterday created a huge margin in iCloud storage. The margin is even more significant because it correspondently reduces space on Macbook hard drives.

Years ago i experimented with a (now seen as cumbersome) creative photo organization system.

This system is now obsolete.

Grateful to recognize this fact and excited to dismantle it.

Risky and uncomfortable.

Remember our battlecry, lean into discomfort.

Go.

Open that door. Make your doorstop feel useful and loved.

Happiest desk

Organizing clothing for a 5-week business trip where temps range from 40-90 Fahrenheit. This is part of the “paperwork” of life.

Happiest desk.

What does this mean?

Desk is a metaphor for home – the paperwork of life.

Does your desk make you happy?

Do you make your desk happy?

Said differently, does your (home) paperwork make you happy? Does your personal organization make your desk (you, family, relatives, neighbors, community, world) happy?

The power of relentless organization

Sent two birthday cards to a client. One to his home, one to his work.
The crazy thing about this is that i’ve had these Star Wars themed cards for a year. Why? Because i’m over-focused.

The power of relentless organization.

An object in motion tends to stay in motion. An object at rest tends to stay at rest.

An organized person tends to stay organized. A disorganized person tends to stay disorganized.

One way sets you free. One way buries you.

Choose wisely and launch, learn, and revise your way to an organized life.

At 60, i’m still focused on honing, simplifying, and appreciating an organized life.

Note: When i purchased the cards, i had no idea when they’d be sent or to whom. But i do know many people who have birthdays this year, including some who love Star Wars.

Will i be organized enough?

Will i be organized enough to summit Mt. Oberlin on the drive from Glacier airport to Rising Sun Motor Inn?

Why would this even matter?

The ability to do a previously difficult thing with ease is inspiring and fuels more of the same.

Granite Park’s sister Chalet, Sperry

Sperry Chalet December 2018 from Glacier Conservancy on Vimeo.

Granite Park’s sister Chalet, Sperry, burned down August 2017.

The video above reveals the rebuilding progress from Summer 2018 that should allow the main structure to manage the Winter weather.

Back to 2017…

Holding a one-night reservation for Labor Day weekend.

It would be my first high-mountain Chalet experience.

Different from Granite Park is Sperry’s full-service food and beverage operation.

High mountain luxury.

And as the reality of not having a place to stay on the Friday of Labor Day weekend, with just days notice, i threw a Hail Pass to the Granite Park Chalet office.

One cancellation (from the fire activity).

One relieved Central Floridian.
