3 R’s

My cabin is 10 miles from here and directly across from the mountains on the left.

3 R’s

Reduce.

Reuse.

Recycle.

Mostly reduce.

Reducing is my best life hack for getting and staying organized.

The other best hacks are having clear priorities, practicing the art of surrender, and simplifying life’s five big choices (mind, body, spirit, work, home).

Experience and inexperience

Wild Goose Island is down there. Never saw it from this angle.
We were the only two out here. Blackfoot and Jackson Glaciers.
Middle left, barely visible, Wild Goose Island. The Great Plains at the top.

Experience and inexperience.

Sometimes, probably often, being disorganized is a manifestation of doing something new.

Hiking in Glacier for the first time, my hiking buddy (we met on trail) yesterday didn’t have bear spray, food, or water.

At six hours and nine miles at high elevation, i had all three.

Long ago, i would have been exactly like John.

He was awesome company, a veteran, and he unknowingly provided me an opportunity to hike without drinking.

He declined two offers to drink from my camelback, but did accept a protein bar for lunch.

Never knew i could hike so far and so long without water. Thank you John.

A great home can be lonely if…

Mt. Reynolds. My back and lunch spot. Waited for Shane and Jeremy to see how close we were. It took Jeremy another 45 minutes to summit. Shane got vertigo and had to hold until Jeremy descended.
In the moment using the Garmin satellite GPS, “transforming fears into history”.

A great home can be lonely if…

You have few, or none, to share it with.

Be prepared for a hurricane

Dorian keeps turning away from home.
Cheryl arranged everything next to the wall, anticipating Dorian will hit us.

Be prepared for a hurricane.

Why?

Because life hits us with metaphorical hurricanes. The big storms of life.

At 60, the best way to manage the future is to simplify, prioritize, and act.

i could see a future i didn’t want to experience, if i didn’t simplify, prioritize, and act.

i still can.

Columbia Falls to the rescue

Looking East on 6th Street.

Personal organization has the most resources in Columbia Falls when you have an extended stay in Glacier National Park.

Each week there are more puzzle pieces that fit together to allow me to keep the paperwork of life running smoothly.

Why, and how?

Because i’m over-focused, intentional, present, mindful, and motivated to improve (an inch at a time).

You can do the same with anything, anywhere, anytime.
