Back to Glacier, home

20-second video: As far as anyone could safely go.
35-second video: On our descent. East-side tunnel by The Loop.
25-second video: Descent is officially over as we round the McDonald Creek curve (as i call it) and now it’s six miles of mostly flat road.

Live and learn.

Have fun.

.think .differently

Lean into discomfort.

Ps. Happy present moment.

Prioritizing Glacier

New MacBook Air set up screen
Not ready yet, but this will be the first step.
Screenshot of text thread
Used voice dictation to send myself this text. The idea came into my consciousness. And i was afraid i would lose it if i didn’t capture it right away.

How do you prioritize Glacier?

(How would anyone?)

Easy.

Remember that 1973 National Boy Scout Jamboree in Idaho?

How can i not?

Impossible not to remember.

That’s why prioritizing Glacier is easy.

So easy.

Like breathing.

Glacier 2025, home

six hikers sitting next to mountain lake
Tee-shirt hiking is our favorite. You can see the top of a glacier here. There are only 24 remaining. Only Jackson Glacier is visible from the 50-mile Going-to-the-Sun Road that cuts West to East though Glacier.
16-second video: One of my favorite, and most easily accessible hikes.

Nightly lodging is more than double from previous years.

There are a handful of factors that are coming together in 2025 that have me .thinking .differently about how to manage our Glacier love.

There’s also a ticking clock.

Even something as unexpected as an injury could dramatically change or prohibit future Glacier visits.

The question i’d like to avoid is, “Will i (we) regret not maximizing this years’s visits, even with the increased costs?”

Presently, we are healthy. i can see well. We have sufficient funds. We have discretionary time.

Blessed beyond measure to have this decision-making challenge.

Two days later, the news i expected.

Granite Park Chalet is one of Glacier’s Temples (Churches, Synagogues, Rest Stops, etc).

i love the way i feel when i am near it.

i love the way i feel when i wake up there.

Most hikers do.

Low Chalet odds

hotel reservation screen
Over 3,000 requests. Odds are low. For everyone.

Hoping for the best.

Planning for a shutout.

And so it goes.

Since 2017.
