On the road again

Man at airport
Congrats to UConn’s men’s team last night.
13-second video: Another client video.

Ain’t no glamour on the road, is what i used to say. Now it feels like time to rethink it.

You know the saying, “the more things change…”

When do we peak in our wisdom?

Important contextual point: Peaking doesn’t mean finished learning. Peaking means life’s body of work has reached the summit. You learn things at the summit, still. But until you reach the summit, you’ve never reached the summit.

At the summit, i see clearly now how my work is a privilege, not a necessity. A gift, not a chore. And i’m talking specifically about travel.

i’ve always said, i love to travel but i hate being gone.

Cheryl and i are at an interesting stage.

She can start traveling with me.

She isn’t on this trip.

And as i taxi to the Orlando runway, i’m asking, “Why not?”

Luxury canceled

Hotel reservation screen
First three weeks of June are cancelled. Why? Work.

Make grand plans. Adapt as necessary.

Eye sight.

A necessity?

A right?

A gift?

A luxury?

Eye sight in one eye was cancelled the last eight months.

For the past three days, blindness is gone.

Sight restored.

Talk about a gift and a luxury.

WOW!

Blessed beyond measure.

Anxiety note: Yes, there’s a lingering anxiety about the lens failing to hold. And if it fails to hold, there’s been no talk of another sight option. It was easy to accept permanent blindness in the first 30 seconds of the initial blindness August 14, 2023. But now, with all the possibilities offered from corrective surgeries, it feels challenging to say goodbye to sight.

Bonus: A video from Covid lockdown 2020.

Theory is an average person’s wish

Dragonfly on pond reed
Plenty of dragonflies at every pond, including human-made ponds.
15-second video: Wasn’t sure i was even zoomed in on the dragonfly. But kept it rolling. Turns out i had it in frame. Also turns out there were two dragonflies. Love that the camera helps me see what my natural eyesight misses.
37-second video: Watching a dragonfly breathe is a first for me. Thank you iPhone 15 Pro Max. Tomorrow, will go back to observe it with my own eyesight, sans a zoom lens.
15-second video: Such a tiny place on a tiny planet.

Theory is an average person’s wish. Action is an unaverage person’s reality.

Wealth is a state of mind.

Note: Study wealth all you want, if you continually study, you’ll eventually learn money can’t buy you things that money can’t buy. Sounds obvious, right. Because it is.

That said, i’ve lived without money and with money. i like what the resource of money offers that the lack of money resources can’t.

Periwinkle flowers
Periwinkle Way. Unofficially our home’s entryway.
14-second video: Our Son taught me (without trying) to do this. Ps. Can you find the “hidden lizard”?

Live and learn. Be flexible.

Sage wisdom

Dr Callaway said he’d normally like to see someone like me back in a month.

However, given the two retina surgeries, he wants to see back me in a week.

Note: Dr Callaway was a surprise. Didn’t even know he was on the Magruder team.

Colorful art on a outdoor patio wall
The Glacier art arrived last week and Cheryl hung it yesterday while i slept off the Valium.

Plan for the worst, hope for the best. Don’t plan for the best until it happens.

Cautiously optimistic for a remarkable eye-sight return.

It has already started to feel like a huge lottery win.

But rather than wondering, “What am i gonna do with all this money?”

The pressing question is, “What will i do with all this excellent eye sight?”
