That whole slogan about “Today is the first day of the rest of your life”?
Has this ever really meant anything to you, or has it always remained some lame, sugary saying?

Awakening December 31, 2001, the reality of what was about to happen was staggering (two previous, major attempts had failed).
That day was the first day of the rest of this life.
The first day as a person who no longer drinks alcohol. Period.
If ya do the math, the first day started on the hardest day – the world’s biggest party night – not the day after on January one.
Insane.
