I Slept With Him In His Cage For Hours

I Slept With Him In His Cage For Hours

This blog, of the five, is about the day to day stuff that doesn’t fall into one of life’s big four choices – MIND, BODY, SPIRIT, MONEY.

I mean, where would picking out a puppy fall? Or picking a Vet?

We’ve been going to the same Vet for 23 years, in Kissimmee, Florida.

As our most recent Lab Carter, began to fail rapidly on February 10, we chose a Vet much closer.

Why? Because I knew we’d be making many trips, maybe even daily. Chapin came with Carter and me several times.

A Few Days Later, Valentines Day

I dug the grave (above) and buried Carter on Valentine’s Day.

Then the day after I laid Carter to rest, a Monday, I went in to pay the Vet bill.

Amanda, who saw me first, well, the first thing she said was, “How’s your son?”

Is There Any Place Like It?

Ever go on vacation and even though you’re relaxing and enjoying yourself, you still have a place inside you that yearns to be home again?

Not everyone experiences it, but many do.

Waking up in your own bed is a nice feeling.  There’s a comfort and familiarity that accompany the daily routine that’s about to begin.

This is all based on the assumption that you’re living in the home that is building you.

Not A Fox, But Close Enough

Not A Fox, But Close Enough

We go on vacations to get away from it all, to have fun, and to be happy.

But why do we need to leave our homes to get that?

It seems counter-intuitive to me, but not in a good counter-intuitive way.

I mean, as adults, shouldn’t we make our homes a place where coming home is like an oasis from the real world?

So last night, it was late, and pulling into our long driveway, you could see the two beady eyes immediately, about 30 meters away.

A fox.

I love country living. It often feels like a vacation.

A Toast To Yesterday

A Toast To Yesterday

Did you do it yesterday?

Huh?

Exactly.

Did you do all the things from yesterday’s post?

I did.  This Russian blog validates it (second paragraph). Sheer serendipity.

Battle At Kruger

Sunday, February 14th, 2010

This You Tube video has nearly 50 million views which speaks for itself. It’s a little slow at first, and I almost clicked away and moved on, but didn’t.  It has strong subliminal meaning to our lives as humans – this battle between Lions, Water Buffalo and Crocodiles. The end will surprise you.

Life Is Mostly Overwhelming

Wednesday, February 10th, 2010
What?

What?

Life. We love being alive.

We dread dying.

In between, we have to carve out our life.  A life that hopefully allows us to not only survive, but also to thrive somewhat.

To have mostly good days, a fair number of “bad” days, and occasionally a few great days.

Bad, good, great.  We will each define these differently, no doubt. That’s okay.  It’s all relative anyway.

So what’s the point?

The point is, what will today be?

Suomi Quotes?

Suomi Quotes?

Being inspired inspires others.

Most humans like quotes. We enjoy the way a small sentence or quick thought can summarize the essence of a larger body of work.

Some people are addicted to quotes, like me.

And some people find themselves quotable. This is usually by design, and it is also the mark of someone who’s been burned by Hell’s fire and came out purified, or at the very least, changed.

And in our busy, hectic, worried lives, small, digestible sound bites really satisfy our hunger for a laugh, for inspiration, for validation, for comfort – and on and on.

Quotes are good.

You can quote me on that.
