Humble Servant

Humble Servant.

These two words resonant.

Hard to explain why.

If there were two words, and only two words, that resonated with you, what would they be?

Hoping to someday soon be a humble servant.  Carpe diem,   jeff noel :)

Pizza Delivery

Monday, August 31st, 2009

Pizza delivery.  What a wonderful convenience for busy people.

Saturday, Our son had a friend over for a playday.  I did the cooking for dinner.  Seriously.

Papa John’s to the rescue.

What makes this casual, and routine, situation special is that the gentleman who came to our door not only brought pizza but also some fuel for my fire.

Yes, it’s Summertime.  Yes, it’s like crazy hot in Central Florida.  No, we didn’t have a fire burning in the fireplace (although we sometimes do during the summer).

Simply put, he commented about the dedication he sees in my running commitment.  He’s been living here for eight years and has seen me running “every day”, for eight years.

We can tell people our big plans, or we can simply do it.  Thank you my friend, for reminding me of the power of our example.

Pro Blogging Inspiration

Pro Blogging Inspiration.  Click here to read.

The article is targeted to two groups:

  1. People wanting to become better bloggers
  2. People who appreciate bloggers who challenge them to take some type of action

I’m guessing most of you jeff noel.com readers know I also write four other blogs, every single day.

You may not be able to keep up with them, because, well, I don’t know why.  I spend way more time writing them then the 1-2 minutes it takes to read them.

I just hate to think about dying before I find out how to live.

Thought I’d go easy on ya today.  It is, after all, a day of rest.

The Truth Scares the Hell Out Of People

Friday, August 28th, 2009

That’s why we stick our proverbial heads in the sand.

How do I know?

I’m one of you.  Together, we are way more the same than we are different.  Way more.

The hard stuff is the hard stuff.  There’s a Leadership guru that professes the soft stuff is the hard stuff. And I agree 100%, in the context of leading others.

The context here is leading ourselves.  Because we’re the boss of ourselves, we can do what we darn well please.  No one can push us around when it comes to our destiny.

We fulfill it ourselves.

Or not.

The later is the part that ought to scare the hell out of us.  It certainly has for me.

Live Like You Were Dying

Live Like You Were Dying.

This phrase means many things to many people.  Tim McGraw even sings a song about it.

Today, unconventionally, I dedicate this song to me.  Why?  Because I’ve never dedicated a song to myself.  Call it a bucket list.  Call it whatever you want.  It really doesn’t matter what it’s called:

Now here’s something that does matter and it is my sincerest wish for you and for everyone you love.

Live Like You Were Dying!

Idiot

Thursday, August 27th, 2009

Idiot.

Huh?

Can I, just for once, say, “I got nuthin’ to write about”?

Nope.

You have people depending on you.  You also have people hoping you’ll fall.  Hoping you’ll fail.

Seriously?  You mean there are people like that?  Yes.

Some of them are reading this now.  Some are not.  It’s just the way the world works.

Heaven and hell, right at our finger tips.  Who could ask for anything more?

Running

Wednesday, August 26th, 2009

Running.

Running against time.

If someone asked you, “When is your funeral”? , what would you say?

The simplest way to answer, “Why are you so obsessed with life”?, is this:

He Did It Himself

Tuesday, August 25th, 2009

Our son did it by himself.  I mean, I asked him to, but he did it by himself.

“I’d like you to post about your first day of school”.

Told him to bring his laptop downstairs.  Next thing I know, he’s almost done.

He just had a few questions about adding a hyperlink.

It was as if he had thrown three touchdown passes as the starting nine-year old quarterback.

How Many & Why?

Monday, August 24th, 2009

How many blog posts have you done and why do you do five each day?

First answer is easy – 861.  This post will make it 862.

Second answer.  Also easy, but perhaps challenging to understand.

Because I:

  • Am committed to excellence
  • Want to make a positive difference
  • Think it’s “impossible”
  • Am learning so much
  • Am helping more doing this than not doing this

That’s a short, top of mind list.

It keeps me going.  Anyone want to share what keeps you going?

Probably not, right?  Too busy. Too distracted.  Too scared.

Yeah, same with me.  Carpe diem, jeff noel :)
